Rufus 3.8.6 released on August 5, 2015. This release includes bugfixes and new enhancements. This release will not receive any further support, due to the fact that the core developer has withdrawn from development. All future releases of Rufus will be made as separate projects, mainly for the benefit of users and contributors. The mobile version available on the F-Droid repository will be updated automatically and will be the default version used in the next release.
Rufus replaces my original torrent client and serves as a replacement while I move from other torrent clients to GreedyTorrent. It's the beginning of a new era in file sharing and allows me to have a personal torrent server with no configuration.
Rufus is a small, fast replacement of BitTorrent for Linux and Windows. It supports the native Linux and Windows BitTorrent Download Libraries, and transfers files from a torrent on your hard drive directly. The main goal of Rufus is to make file sharing easier, while not compromising on performance or privacy. Files are downloaded in parallel over your LAN or the Internet, depending on whether you are running Rufus with a local or remote connection. You can choose to download files from the Torrents, Magnet links, or Files on Usenet, Foxit Reader, Feedburner, Google Reader, FTP servers, and file-sharing sites such as RapidShare and Mega.
Rufus is a replacement for BitTorrent that can automatically start when you log in by launching it silently in the background. It works for desktop and server systems, and allows you to share your files with everyone on the Internet in a straightforward way, without having to mess with complex user interfaces. It is fully compatible with all your regular BitTorrent clients, and can also download torrents from other clients. Rufus runs completely in the background so you never have to worry about your PC being slow due to the torrent client taking up valuable resources. d2c66b5586
