Two years later, Silver and the other men decide to go in search of Flint's treasure. They meet Ben at the same island, and he leads them to the treasure. He then tells them how to get there, but he wants them to keep it for him. They find Flint's treasure and manage to get off the island. The men return to Treasure Island, but it is revealed that Pompoon is still alive, and he has been secretly working with Flint to keep the treasure for himself.
The next day, the remaining men on Treasure Island find Jim and his friends. They explain that there are still two other treasure holes on the island, but Ben Gunn's ghost has found them first.
The man reveals that he is Ben Gunn's former servant, Ben Gunn's ghost, and he has been on Treasure Island for three years. He revealed himself to Silver and the others because he felt he owed Ben for saving him. Ben Gunn's ghost explains how he couldn't let Silver die, and he insists that the rest of them should get off the island. The man leads the others to a boat, and they set out to row to the mainland. Silver and Jim bury Pompoon's ghost in a cave on the island, and they return to Treasure Island.
Ben and Silver's companions eventually find a map of Treasure Island to the buried treasure, and they set out to find it. After several adventures, the group finds the treasure. Ben gives the gold, silver and jewels to Jim and his friends. Silver realizes that Ben is planning to kill them all for the treasure and he murders the man, but later admits that he did it to protect Jim.
Silver and the others arrive at the island and discover that another mutineer, Pompoon, has been marooned there, dead of starvation. Jim and his friends try to solve the problem using the log, but they find that it only works with the original crew members, not the current one. They eventually find Pompoon's ghost and he tells them where Flint's treasure is hidden, but he does not know how to get there.
