Quercetin, a flavonoid, has been shown to have an effect on lymphocyte stimulation and lymphocyte-induced tumor cell cytotoxicity [35]. Lymphocytes are an important cell type that plays a role in cancer immunosurveillance. Quercetin was able to facilitate the cellular immune response by increasing lymphocyte activation and T-cell proliferation. It also induced the apoptosis of transformed cell lines by suppressing the PI3K/Akt pathway.
