I have a Photoshop2019 portable version, signed by ME. I'm using it on some computer, with only full version available, but version number is 2020. If I want to activate it on computer, I just have to rename it (of course, without changing version and signature) to.psd. The menu will now open and I can use it
Also note that some plugins will be only available to the portable user (no full version on computer, can be signed). But if you want one, you'll have to make a little bit of work (copy default PSD to main PSD directory, so you have it available to user and plug in, rename to.psd, keep the same directory to run).
CC 2020: Home screen doesn't load after first install. The reason is that portables didn't update any file, but import new one. Install version solved it. fixed in v20.0.5-7-8, Home screen no longer crashes.
CC 2019: No longer crashes after installation, but still not working after update. Try to update again and then look at settings to enable update completely and try again. fixed in v20.0.5-8
For Adobe XD: Home screen doesn't load (loads forever). I'm sure you can live without it, opening or creating any file you want through menus :) - I already disabled Home in settings. fixed in v21.0.2+-6-7, all works, also Luminar as a plugin with no problems.
