The Healing Way by Keith Jarrett. Jarrett is capable of playing in more styles then most, and he has been covered in a small set of styles by others as well. This is something else. Cool playing throughout, and worthy of its heavy weight. Probably best of the three or four records on that album.
The Book of Dreams by Keith Jarrett. While not quite up to the high standards of the rest of the album, this is one of the very few I have listened to recently and may well return to it. Has the same great playing throughout. The off-moods are great also. His self portrait is one of the best ever I think.
In the Autumn by Keith Jarrett. Really hopes he sticks to one style, but the one we have here is in many of its prominent forms. In the Autumn is full of good (and sometimes great) grooves, right at the top of his game. I know it's not my favorite album, or even one of his best, but it is one of his few strong recent releases.
Scratch My Back by Keith Jarrett. Has some very innovative approaches in pieces like "Four", "5", etc. Various things to enjoy about it. It's one of his better releases, and if you know Jarrett, you know all the grooves at his top level are here. This is a good one if you can find it.
"House of Blue Leaves" by Keith Jarrett. Not the kind of album you go looking for, but the kind you can stumble onto, and enjoy. In some ways, the feeling is no longer there in the same way. It's good for Jazz.
Second is Offbeat of the Avenues by Manhatten Transfer. There are a few incredible cuts on that album that still blow me away after all this time. I consider that album full blown jazz as opposed to a popular label. Several of the arrangements are truly magnificent. d2c66b5586
