However, the increasing distance from the X chromosome centromere and the abundance of multilocus male-specific lethal (MSL) complex binding sites on the X have made it increasingly difficult to pinpoint MSL-dependent genes on the X. In a previous study, where we compared males and females to determine the dosage of MSL complex activity, we discovered that two X-linked genes are hyperexpressed in males with MSL complex binding sites, but not expressed at detectable levels in females (5). We interpret this to mean that one copy of the MSL complex is sufficient for the proper dosage-sensitive expression of these two genes, and that MSL complex binding sites on the X chromosome are therefore capable of hypertranscribing X-linked genes in males. However, this is controversial since it is not clear whether the low level of expression of these two X-linked genes in females is an XCI-independent phenomenon. Moreover, as previously stated, this does not speak to the role of MSL complex binding sites in other X-linked genes. Here, we begin to address these criticisms by identifying a third X-linked gene that is dosage-sensitive. In addition to the previously published two, we report that male-specific hypertranscription of the X chromosome is also limited to a small subset of genes encoding RNA binding proteins. The apparent male-specific hypertranscription of at least one of the RNA binding proteins on the X chromosome is consistent with the hypothesis that MSL complex binding sites can hypertranscribe X-linked genes in males.

I have a question that has nothing to do with this game, so feel free to ignore this comment if it's not pertinent. In the other mystery case files games, you would hold down the'scissors' button to get the plastic cutters. In this game, you hold down the button to get the scissors.
