I know there's still a lot of work to be done, and the game is as much as unfinished as Zero Hour was, but the work we've done is solid and we can finally start working towards opening the game up for public testing. We've worked on so many issues that this time around its going to be a lot more enjoyable and hopefully fun for all of you - its going to be a bit more like Zero Hour in terms of having much more to the game than what it was in the past, including new content, new maps, new mechanics and vastly improved SkirmishAI.
Tomorrow we'll release Beta 0.3 for everyone to test and report issues, so we can fix and squash them in Beta 0.4, the last beta before release. If you've ever played Zero Hour, you'll know that Generals is basically an improved, expanded and updated Zero Hour, so the gameplay is pretty much the same, just with new units, abilities and quirks, brand new gameplay modes and the ability to play on a much bigger battlefield.
In this beta you will find 9 out of our 20 Generals factions for you to choose from. All factions are fully playable from the start, no extra DLCs, no purchased units and no DLCs will be available for purchase in Generals.
We're currently working on Beta 0.4, which will be our last beta before we launch and before we start final tweaking and bug fixing of Generals. Beta 0.4 will be a bit more polished and have lots of fixes and improvements as we're going to start testing on more nagging issues we've discovered. The last beta will be the final beta where we'll be able to confidently send Generals to Steam and prepare for release. All Beta builds will be available for you to download/test, so you can report any bugs and issues and hopefully we can squash them before release.
